Cultural Drum Making Workshop

“The drum beat is a conduit connecting the resonant sound of the human heartbeat with the rhythm of the heartbeat to Mother Earth. Our culture teaches us that the more drums played, the more harmony, connection, and understanding we have of one mind, one body and one spirit.” ~ Tsawaysia Spukwas

Description:

“Making your own drum begins a journey – as you will transform Mother Nature’s Gift into a musical instrument.”

“Drums  have been used for thousands of years and by many cultures. The drum beat works as a conduit connecting the resonance sound of the human heartbeat and the rhythm of the heartbeat of Mother Earth. When the drum dries, we keep the heartbeat alive by beating the drum. Our culture teaches us that the more drums played, the more harmony, connection, and understanding we have of one mind, one body and one spirit.” ~  Tsawaysia Spukwas

This workshop is facilitated by Shannon Fischer c/o Webenessence EnterPrizes. She has been working with the Sacred Drum Medicine since 2018 and hosts regular Drum Circles within her Drum Group, “Open Hearts Sacred Drum Journey”, which is open to All People. You can find the Group on FB to join and stay connected.

Shannon will guide you step by step on how to put your drum together and how to  connect and use the medicine of the drum, during this workshop. No previous experience is required. After the first Day of the workshop,  there needs to be a minimum of a few days for the Drums/Hyde to cure/dry.

The second part of the workshop (Day 2) is when we honour the Indigenous Traditions from the East Coast by holding a  Birthing Ceremony so that each participant can rightfully keep their  first drum.

You will also be making something else (a surprise to be shared in the workshop) which will be intended to gift to someone else, by way of honouring the West Coast Indigenous Traditions of gifting away something that you created for the first time. You will have the 5 days in between to make this Sacred Item and bring it to the Birthing Ceremony.

Many beautiful and profound experiences have occurred since the beginning of Shannon's Journey working with the Sacred Medicine of the Drum. Her very first drum was blessed and hand delivered to her by a well known and highly respected Elder within the community. This is a Great Honor.

Shannon has attended and successfully completed the Aboriginal BEST (Business Entrepreneurship Skills Training) Program in the Fall of 2018 along side her Mentor and Soul Sister Sue-Ann Markin c/o Native Heart Drum Group. In July 2019 they had their first successful Cultural  Drum Making Workshop together.

In the Spring of 2021 Shannon was led by Spirit and her Ancestors to  create a new group which is called, “Open Hearts Sacred Drum Journey”.  With many blessings and support of this new adventure, Open Hearts Sacred Drum Journey continues to grow and evolve with many People from All walks of Life.

This event has a group. You’re welcome to join the group once you register for the event.
